    Licensed Professional Counselor, MS, LPC-S

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (Supervisor) in San Antonio, Texas, with over 26 years of working in the field of psychology. From a car accident to domestic abuse or aftermath of childhood trauma, I help people through their journey. I meet them where they are and guide with instructions and clarity.

I have worked in various environments domestically and abroad, from Texas to Mexico. I have worked with many populations, including indigenous women, abused women, and other marginalized people. Throughout the years, I learned effective ways to treat trauma without re-traumatizing the person. Many times people avoid going into therapy because they do not want to relive the trauma. A person does not necessarily have to re-visit traumatic events to heal from it.

Using a variety of therapy models healing from trauma can be achieved. When a person has witnessed Domestic Violence or other types of trauma, it is most probable that they will experience PTSD symptoms. I am trained to treat PTSD to reduce and extinguish flashbacks, night terrors, or nightmares.
Through the therapeutic relationship, trust, self-awareness, insight, self-confidence, and a sense of self can be developed.

I am a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor in the state of Texas. I completed my training at the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2017. I am trained to use the Illness Management and Recovery manual, based on the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy method. Through my training, in both school and a variety of work environments, I have worked closely with individuals diagnosed with Substance Use Disorder, at-risk youth, and have educated parents to regain parental rights through the court system. My goal as a mental health counselor is to assist individuals in regaining self-confidence, self-awareness, and independence through the tools therapy provides.

Together we will work on building a therapeutic alliance that will allow you to identify problems that are getting in the way of a fulfilling life. This will help develop the necessary life skills to manage painful emotions. One area I like to focus on in therapy is mindfulness and learning how to stay present at the moment. Please feel free to reach out to me for a phone interview to find out more about my services.

    Sylvia Morris

     Licensed Professional Counselor, MS, LPC

My past experience was a rewarding career as an RN. Specializing in Oncology allowed me to see firsthand the deficit of mental health care being included as part of patient care as a whole. This led to my transition to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. For over a decade, I have spent my LPC career specializing in trauma, abuse, and PTSD. Modes of therapy may include cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, EMDR, and/or motivational interviewing.

Some mental health challenges that have surfaced due to past experiences will also be addressed, such as depression, anxiety, and unhealthy coping strategies. It would be an honor to assist you in moving through areas in your life that are causing hurtful cycles you are ready to put in your past. Relief is possible.
